Our focus today was on the rhythm of life... and the need for rest. The who, what, and how of the sabbath. A great message as the summer season approaches. As a husband, father, son and worker in the kingdom I needed to hear it.
We had a holiday team today missing five members due to vacations and a youth mission trip to Washington DC. The next few months will be filled with Sunday's like this one. That being said God continues to bless us with musical gifts to fill in.
We opened with Everlasting God [Chris Tomlin] and then went into our Prayer of Focus. What followed was a failed attempt of Fields of Grace [Darrell Evans] which I crashed and burned on. I just had a brain freeze. I realized right away that we needed to start it over again... and afterwards cruised through the next portion of worship singing Blessed Assurance [Hymn] and See [Eddy Mann]. After declaring our Statement of Faith we sang It Is Well With My Soul and heard today's message. We closed with a time of reflective singing and then ended with How Great Is Our God.
So as I face the week ahead it'll be with an eye toward the resting moments.

The God of Love
I just returned from Overland, Kansas in the "heartland" of America. I was blessed to attend the All About Worship Retreat. Having survived the "twister" like whirling winds of Satan's evil ways this past year I needed some time to relax, recharge and refocus. As I wandered into Grace Church [our retreat host] and our first general session I couldn't help think "I have a feeling I'm not in Pennsylvania anymore"
My first introduction was to the the "Strawman" who's sang, “I'd unravel every riddle, for every individual, in trouble or in pain.” This was someone I immediately could relate to. From the platform every Sunday I gaze upon the congregation and see a church in trouble and in pain. So I pray for wisdom, wisdom to speak and sing the right words, wisdom to lead them to a place of healing.
As I entered our gathering room I stumbled upon the "Tin-Man." A man who had become hollow inside, a vessel that had run dry. The world had beaten him down and he wanted to find passion again. To find his heart for worship. The heartless Tin-Man carried an “axe,” a Martin acoustic. This was the medium he used in the Kingdom. In the words of the Tin-Man, as he expressed relief after we prayed “I've used this to lift His name up for ages.”
The "Lion," a mighty man, a fearless man, had lost his courage. The bellowing tenor had lost his voice. He explained how the voice that had led him had become quite. This silence was deafening to him and was driving him to doubt his calling... and we prayed.
What I remembered was to find our God, we have to follow not, "the yellow-brick road” but the road to heaven's gates. A road that is covered not in yellow paint, but with the blood of Jesus. A road created not of bricks, but out of unconditional love.
The poppy-drugs [Satan's words of hate and jealousy] work on those who are lost and following the wrong vision, but not on those who keep their eyes on the prize. When we cry out for help, our God — the Good God — answers our prayers with a still small voice. What can wash us pure as snow? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. It nullifies the narcotic effect of the poppies.
As we gathered to sing I could hear the Saints singing the glories of God's Creation: “Stay out of the woods, Stay out of the dark, Stay out of the night. Step into the Son, Step into the light, Keep straight ahead for the most glorious place above the the earth and the stars!”
So now, relaxed, recharged and refocused, I hit the road again not in Red Ruby Slippers, but Red Canvas Chucks!
Blessings to Wisdom, Ben and all my new Brother and Sisters in Christ.

Eddy

Worship Confessional 05.23.10
I woke up this morning the same time I wake up every Sunday morning... I prepped for worship the same as I always do [well almost]... I actually left a few minutes earlier then usual... but there was a little wrinkle this morning. I woke up in West Richmond, Indiana, right on the Ohio, Indiana border. Not in my state, not on my street, not in my house, and not in my bed. I was returning today from the All About Worship Retreat in Overland, Kansas. I had eight hours of driving ahead of me but that wasn't gonna stop me from my time of worship.
The band was extra sharp this morning, great energy, and just overflowing with His spirit. I was led in worship this morning by Tommy Walker and his Break Through CD.
Set 1
This Is Your Day
All About Your Glory
Prayer of Focus
To God Be The Glory [great hymn]
Break Through
We Will Remember
There Is A Rock
Message: by Andy Stanley
Defining Moments Part 8 "Playing God"
Outstanding message on our attempt to control things.
Set 2
Emmanuel
There Is A Place
All the Saints Join In
The Lord's Prayer
I'll Never Stop Believing
Truth be told this is how I usually travel. Every morning on the road is another opportunity for worship. You gotta love technology when it can bring you into a praise and worship experience on I70!

Worship Confessional 05.16.10
What a cool feel today... Men at Worship... we had an all male team this morning, might have been the first time, and it just gave the service a different feel. A nice morning of brotherhood. The music plan was on the mark and band was also on. I just found myself smiling a lot. We might have to revisit this setup later.

Worship Confessional 05.09.10
I found myself changing the music plan and powerpoint at 10pm Saturday night. As the week progessed my team continued to take a different shape. Right up to Saturday night. All four regulars who were out were replaced by someone half their age. This really lowered the average age of the band. So I simplified the music plan and experienced a wonderful place of worship this morning.
