Worship Confessional 09.26.10

A great start to our new sermon series ["How Then Shall I Live"] this morning. We were introduced to some new approaches on how to read the bible. Should be a an interesting year.

We had a rough rehearsal and then a last minute PowerPoint problem to overcome today and I thought we did an outstanding job. None of the pre-service obstacles were distractions during the service.

We're presently working with a very young team due to a numbers of reasons and because of that there are a few areas that are experiencing growing pains but nothing that won't work itself out.

Music Plan
All Are Welcome [Mann]
Prayer of Focus
I Am Free [Egan]
All Creatures of Our God and King [Hymn]
To Worship You I Love [Houghton]

Where's your blind spot?

As my daughter prepares for her drivers test. We got to talking about blind spots, which got me to thinking about spiritual blind spots.

We all know about that side view blind spot when we're driving. That area that you can't see between the side view and rear view mirrors. When you're driving what you can't see could cause an accident or worse. There are any number of bad things that can happen by not having good vision, not seeing things as they are.

Our spiritual health can be dangerously compromised if we're not seeing our life clearly. Do you see yourself as others do? How do you react in different situations? What words do you use when you're angry or upset? Where do you turn when there's a problem?  The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it... Proverbs 27:12 [NIV]

So where's you blind spot?

Worship Confessional 09.19.10

It was our annual Homecoming Sunday for us today... a combined service with a church picnic that followed. This service always features something for everybody. We also blessed backpacks for the kids and adults that have commenced a new school year.

With all the change-overs our tech team did an outstanding job of keeping things running smoothly and seamlessly. It makes for a nice day as we meet as a church family.

Worship Confessional 09.05.10

I said goodbye to Bethany today. I'll be heading north this week for a full weekend of praising back in PA. I have to thank Gary Durbin for opening up his heart and inviting me to serve on the Bethany team. I really had a wonderfully refreshing couple of weeks just being a sideman and watching the inner workings of this warm and spiritual group of musicians and friends. Thanks Will, Johnny, Dean, Deb, Michael, Brenda, Kevin, Jake, Chris, Chad, Rita, Jennifer, Josh, Jade and Gary for letting me share my gifts with yours in glorifying our God.
