Hymnody at Heartsong 08.25.12

I've been doing some pre-production planning for an acoustic project of hymns. I've even been booking some dates for the fall that are centered on the idea. So I was naturally excited about the opportunity to present these hymns as a collection in a worship space this coming weekend.

On Saturday, August 25th the Quartet and I will be presenting a night of hymns at the Heartsong service at Gloria Dei Church. We'll be worshipping in the chapel beginning at 5pm.

Like most worship leaders I've been re-arranging and re-writing hymns for many years. What started off as a natural need has grown into a passion.

Having grown up in the church there are hymns that have a deep seeded warmth and meaning for me. It's amazing how those melodies and texts can continue to fill an aging heart.

Our guest speaker Dr. Margee Iddings led us through the story of Jesus in Lazarus' home... of Mary anointing His feet, of Martha being Martha... of Judas' complaint.. and challenged us to sit in Jesus' seat. She brought a life size art rendering which really added to the intensity of the message. Loved it!

Heartsong 03.06.10

A number of people have approached me about the Heartsong service and why I don't recap it here... so here it is. I really like the quiet, reflective and personal feel of this service. It's quite a departure from Crossways on Sunday morning. As this journey continues I'll post whenever I can.
