(A glimpse at the creation of this worship leader's weekly music plan.)
Sunday will be week two of our series on The Bread of Life and our message will be from John 6:24-35.
We'll continue focusing on our need to be hungry for Jesus (The Bread of Life). One of the theme songs, Paul Baloche's Stir Up A Hunger really captured the congregation last week. Our hearts really resonate with that song.
As the week began things fell into place rather quickly. Much easier then last week and vacation schedules have allowed me to be creative with the way we're instrumentally assigned.
The first draft...
I felt led this week to use Our God Saves [D] by Paul Baloche as our gathering song. We normally use this as a sending song. Wherever it's sung, it's connects well.
Key line: We're gathered together to lift up Your name, to call on our Savior, to fall on Your grace.
Today Is The Day [C] (Paul Baloche, Lincoln Brewster) will be our opening praise song. We haven't sung this in six months and I expect it'll be full of energy. As I worshipped with this song this morning I started to sing the chorus of and old hymn This Is My Father's World. I'll chart that for the band in case it feels right on Sunday.
Key line: Today is the day You have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
We'll segue into a thematic song, Kathryn Scott's Hungry [C], which is in the same key. I'm feeling the need to settle things down a little earlier this week to give us a bit more quiet and reflective time.
Key line: Hungry I come to You for I know You satisfy.
During this series we're distributing communion each week. This Sunday's song will be Remembrance [Eb] by Matt Maher and Matt Redman. I'm so happy that the congregation took to this one. A wonderful community song.
Key line: By Your mercy we come to Your table
Our lead in to the message will be Paul and Rita Baloche's Taste And See [E]. Perfect for our message and a theme song for this series. This is not the normal vertical type of song that I like to use hear but the message just seemed to fit.
Key line: Jesus is the Bread of Life, broken and poured out for us.
Paul Baloche's Stir Up A Hunger will again be our sending song this week. We'll continue to add to it's long history with us.
Key line: Stir up a hunger in my heart for You.
Looks like the first draft is a keeper. No new songs again this week, but once again we'll be tweaking some older arrangements to keep things fresh.
Pray on,
Eddy
