(A glimpse at the creation of this worship leader's weekly music plan.)
This Sunday will be week three of our series on The Bread of Life and our series ends with a message from John 6:35, 41-51
This has been a fun little series on a couple of levels. Musically we've had the opportunity to re-engage with a couple of familier songs while being creative with the arrangements.
And I've also enjoyed partaking in communion every week. We normally only celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month.
The first draft...
We're going to use Glorified [D] by Jarad Anderson as our gathering song this week. I've arranged it a little differently for this service, hoping that four of us will share with the leading.
Key line: I've come to worship, I've come to lift up Your name, for You deserve this life laid down like the one that You gave.
As It Is In Heaven [A] (Matt Maher, Ed Cash) will open our worship in song section. Like last week, another song we haven't sung in six months and again I expect it'll be full of energy.
Key line: God give us new every morning, mercy as daily bread.
A month or so ago we introduced Your Presence Is Heaven To Me [B] (Micah Massey, Israel Houghton), and it took off right away. So it'll be nice to get back in touch with this one as a way to segue into communion.
Key line: Nothing in this world will satify. Jesus You're the cup that won't run dry.
This Sunday for communion we'll be singing Taste And See [E] by Paul and Rita Baloche. We brought this back last week and used it to lead into our message. This will give the song a chance to resonate with the congregation by becoming a little more comfortable to sing.
Key line: Jesus is the Bread of Life, broken and poured out for us.
Our lead into the message will be Tommy Walker's Earnestly [G]. This'll be a new one for us. I'm not sure as of this writing how I want to introduce this yet. A little more time in prayer usually does the trick. Tommy's songs have always related well with our church. I believe this to be another one.
Key line: This is eternali life that we can seek. The God who meets our deepest need.
Paul Baloche's Stir Up A Hunger will again be our sending song. We'll be closing our series with this particular theme song. It's once again grown in energy each week we've used it.
Key line: Stir up a hunger in my heart for You.
This plan felt good from the start and has held strong all week. One new song to teach, and a couple returning favorites along with the theme songs. Can't wait!
Pray on,
Eddy
