The Plan 09.23.12

(A glimpse at the creation of this worship leader's weekly music plan.)

This will be week four of our series on transition. Our focus will be on first times... those that are visiting... welcoming those who we don't know.

Our message will be inspired by Mark 9:30-37. I chose to follow a welcoming, and loving lyric/text message.

As plans go, this one came together quickly. My prayer is that I got it right. The choice of songs/hymns sometimes seems to flow too easily. I think I question myself harder on those weeks.

We're warming up with a song of mine from my last Cd All Are Welcome. An open invitation for all God's children to walk through our doors without judgement. We'll be raising the key one step this week. That's unusual in today's climate of artist driven songs. I just feel like I've over compensated a little with this one in the past, and it's lost some of its punch.

A New Hallelujah [Brewster, Baloche] really connected with me early this week. I the liked worldly references for this week's message. We'll be doing a re-worked version of the Baloche track.

Your Presence is Heaven for Me [Massey, Houghton] has been slipping in and out of my plans for a couple of months. It's in the plan this week purely for its vertical quality. It's always a wonderfully reflective time in our worship.

If I Have Not Loved [Redman] is a song we don't do very often, but another that resonates well with our congregation. Great reminder of our purpose.

Our sending song this week is an old favorite Love One Another [Mann] we haven't done in some time. It was a staple of ours a few years back. Just a fun song that reinforces our going out to the world with a loving attitude.

We got some different flavors this week [mandolin and ukulele] as we utilize the gifts God has brought to our team. I'm looking forward to creating hearing some new arrangements.

Pray on,
Eddy
