Worship Confessional 05.24.09

We had another beautiful day of worship and once again our youth were shinning both on the platform and in the tech booth. Our message was focused on the journey and our journey ahead looks generously sprinkled with talent. It's going to be a joy watching these young men and women grow and mature.
I Know Who I Am [Houghton] - A ... quickly becoming a favorite
Call to Worship / Litany ... Dr. J.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness [Trad] - A ... nicely done by Mark
Your Grace Is Enough [Maher] - A ... one of our standards
God You Reign [Brewster] - D ... another song that seems to be catching on
I Will Rise [Tomlin] - B introduced this weekend to good reviews
Message - John 21:1-17
You Are Good [Houghton] - C ... lots of energy

God provided all the pieces on yet another weekend of late changes. We are blessed with a growing talent pool... praise God. I pray your sevices were blessed like ours!
Pray on,

Worship Confessional 05.17.09

We finished our five week series on "Being Fully Human" today with the message 'Love Everyone'... I really enjoyed the series especially since we did it during the Easter season. It really coincided with my adopted verse of the year from 1 Cor. 13:18 "Love Never Fails"

I made a last minute (11pm Saturday night) change on percussion as our regular drummer came up ill last night. It was one our youngest members (Gary... who's actually a bass player... no, let me rephrase that... he's a musician) who came through on the cajon again this morning. What a great collection of gifts our youth have been bringing to the team each week.

We opened with Sing, Sing, Sing [Tomlin] - C ... we kind of trashed the intro to this one, but got it together by the second verse.

Call to Worship - Litany - Easter People, Raise Your Voices [Trad] - A

I know Who I Am [Houghton] - A ... the congregation is starting to give a strong effort on this one.

Because of Your Love [Baloche] - G ... one of our 'get up and move' songs

Love Never Fails [Mann] - E ... this was a new one that was really well received.

Message: John 13:34-35 "Love Everyone"

Overflow [Kline, Mann] - C ... though we've done it at other services this is still a fairly new song for us... just a great vibe with lots of energy.

I think I've got a full team next week... I'm already excited!

Pray on,

Eddy

Worship Confessional 05.10.09

Just a great service today. Everything moved seamlessly and fell into place. Of course the usual bugs and disturbances were there but they were kept to a minimum.
We open with Made To Worship [Tomlin] - A which we hadn't done in a while.
Call To Worship - Dr. J
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus [Trad] - D we played this behind the Call and then sang two verses.
Because of Your Love [Baloche] - G this song has great energy for us.
He Saved Us To Show His Glory [Walker] - G we've done a lot of Tommy Walker in the past and this is a congregational favorite.
Kids Choirs
Easter People [Hansen-Mann] - E this was something I had been working on for a few weeks. I wrote this around an Easter Statement that our senior pastor, Dr. J wrote. Gratefully it was received well with quite a few compliments afterwards.
Message - Fully Human - Forgive Others
I Know Who I Am [Houghton] - A another song with an enormous amount of energy.
It all connected today! Praise Him!
Pray on,
Eddy

Worship Confessional 05.03.09

Have you ever underestimated the difficulty of your music plan? I really put a heavy load on my team today. I thought we'd be fine but there were two songs that just needed a lot more attention then I thought they would and this made things a little edgy for me today. In the end, as is usually the case, all was well with the music and message connecting and the congregation engaged.

We opened for the first time with "Sing, Sing, Sing" [Tomlin] a song that I've been doing for a few months at our youth service. The original key of 'E', which works great with the kids, was a struggle that early in the morning and will have to be dropped for this service [especially if I want any men singing].

Call to Worship - Dr. J.

Our theme today was "Being Earthy" so we did "All The Earth Will Sing Your Praises" [Baloche] 'E' and ran this into "All Creatures of Our God and King" (Trad) 'E'. We did this with an arrangement loosely inspired by and old Sheryl Crow song "Can't Cry Anymore".

We introduced "God You Reign" [Brewster] 'D' today and after teaching the chorus had a great response to it. At the end we did a little meditative verse of "Jesus Shall Reign" [Trad] 'D' before returning to the "God You Reign" chorus.

We celebrated communion today with a focus on inviting the Holy Spirit to come. I chose "Holy Spirit Come" [Walker] 'C' which we as a church relate to and sing well.

Message: Luke 14:7-11 "Being Earthy" ... Dr. J.

We closed with "All The Saints Join In" [Walker] 'E'. This is a favorite of ours, one we haven't done in a while, and it had lots of energy today.

Funny how as long as the spirit's right... it's all good!

Pray on,
Eddy
