The Plan 09.16.12

(A glimpse at the creation of this worship leader's weekly music plan.)

Entering week three of our series on transition. We'll be celebrating our Homecoming service this week.

Our message this week will be centered on Mark 8:27-38. I wanted to find some stand up and be counted lyrics... and also some unabashed followers refrain .

My first draft changed a little as the week drew on but I'm really comfortable with the mix of styles, tempos and texts as the weekend approaches.

Our gathering song will be Today is the Day (Lincoln Brewster, Paul Baloche). We'll have an extra contingent of children this week and they've really taken to this song. They bring a different kind of energy before they leave for their ministry.
Key line: I will stand upon Your truth.

Lincoln Brewster's Love the Lord will follow. Another song that resonates not only with our adults but also with the younger bodies in attendance.
Key line: I will serve the Lord with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my strength.

The hymn Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus will flow out of Love the Lord. This is an arrangement that I've altered a bit, but stays pretty close to Tommy Walker's. This was first done at a Promise Keepers event that Tommy was arranging for. Needless to say this will connect with the older generation and hopefully the funked up arrangement will turn some newbies on to it.
Key line: Stand up, lift His banner high.

Leading into the message we're doing Tommy Walker's I'm Not Ashamed. It just supports the text for the day in a perfect way. We haven't done it in some time so the energy should be good.
Key line: I'm not ashamed of the cross, not ashamed of Your word.

Our sending song this week will be a song one that I wrote a few years ago I Am Yours. The chorus has an anthem like feel to it that's very easy to sing and has always been a great sending song for us.
Key line: I am yours let the whole sing.

I'm looking forward to getting our percussion section back after two weeks. Have an awesome time of worship this weekend.

Pray on,
Eddy
